Love Line 2010
Love and Food . . . they go together! You are invited to become a part of an important ministry here at Shawnee Park. The Love Line provides meals to church families who have events in their lives where dinner is the last thing they need to worry about. Births, illnesses, deaths, moving day, etc. are examples.

We need SPCC members to take one month between March 2010 and February 2011. You are then on "stand-by" for that month for needs in the church. In some cases, the entire Love Line may need to be activated. Please contact Donna Conger at (913) 491-3881 to sign up, contact the church office at (913) 268-6770 or submit your sign-up on line by clicking here and filling out our online form.

Bloodmobile
The Bloodmobile comes to Shawnee Park Christian Church periodically. Click here to sign up.

Panera Bread
for Shawnee Community Center

Shawnee Park Christian Church members take turn going to Panera Bread at closing time to pick up the remaining bread and then taking it to the Community Center of Shawnee.

Community Center of Shawnee
Each month, Shawnee Park Christian Church collects different basic foods and household supplies for donation to the Shawnee Community Center, a nonprofit community outreach center located at 67th Street and Neiman Road. It provides assistance to the homeless, the aged, the indigent, and those in financial need. Contact Waive at (913) 268-7328 or rwmorgan83@everestkc.net or the Community Center Director, Evelyn at (913) 268-7746.

AA Meetings
Courage to Change Group

Free. Tuesdays & Fridays, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Room 100, Shawnee Park Christian Church.
A Non-Smoking Group.

Alcoholics Anonymous® (AA) is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. AA is not affiliated with Shawnee Park Christian Church, but uses our facility. For more information, contact AA. For inspirational quotes to be e-mailed to you, sign into Hazelden.

Alanon
Free. Thursdays, 6 to 7 p.m., Room 100, Shawnee Park Christian Church

For more than 50 years, Al-Anon (which includes Alateen for younger members) has been offering hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics. It is estimated that each alcoholic affects the lives of at least four other people... alcoholism is truly a family disease. No matter what relationship you have with an alcoholic, whether they are still drinking or not, all who have been affected by someone else’s drinking can find solutions that lead to serenity in the Al-Anon/Alateen fellowship.

Micah Ministry
The Micah Ministry operates on Monday nights at Independence Boulevard Christian Church. Micah Ministry serves dinner to almost 500 people every Monday. But it’s not just about food.  They also offer a clothes closet, GED classes, free legal help, AA meetings, children’s activities, and a worship service for women in a domestic violence shelter.

Shawnee Park Christian Church serves dinner on the first Monday of every month at Micah.  You're invited to go with others from Shawnee Park - ask about carpooling at 4 p.m., or drive yourself and arrive by 5:30 p.m.  Once there, you'll be put to work doing whatever is most needed: serving food, giving out clothes, or even providing child care.

Micah Ministry is at Independence Boulevard Christian Church, 606 Gladstone Boulevard, Kansas City, MO. For more information, contact Dee Grier at (913) 631-2232 or e-mail her at R.Grier@kc.rr.com.

Each Christmas, Shawnee Park Christian Church collects gifts on its Angel Tree for children of incarcerated parents.
